It's the Little Things

Some of the most meaningful memories aren't the big celebrations—they're the ordinary afternoons that quietly become unforgettable. A little flour on the counter, tiny hands eager to help, and laughter filling the kitchen may not seem extraordinary in the moment, but years from now, these are the memories that will tell the story of a childhood.

For this layout, I wanted the photos to remain the focus while using soft patterns, subtle mixed-media details, and plenty of white space to frame these sweet everyday moments. The result is a page that feels calm, timeless, and full of heart.

Tips & Techniques

• Let white space work for you. White space isn't empty—it gives your photos room to breathe and helps every design element stand out.

• Use stenciling as a background accent. Rather than covering a large area, lightly ink only portions of your stencil in opposite corners to frame the layout and add subtle texture.

• Keep embellishments intentional. A few small clusters are often more effective than filling every empty space.
