❄️ Craft Notes: Winter Wonderland

When the snow begins to fall and the world turns quiet, there’s something magical about capturing the peace of winter days in our scrapbooks. I designed this layout with the Glacier Frolic free collection from our Black Friday special. It brings that feeling of fresh snowfall and stillness right onto the page.

🌲 The Story Behind the Page

This layout was inspired by those crisp days when you can see your breath in the air, the trees are heavy with snow, and it feels like time slows down. Whether it’s a sledding day, a walk in the woods, or just a cozy moment bundled up at home, this set of pages were created to hold those quiet, heartfelt memories of the season.

I wanted the design to feel calm but full of depth — like looking out over a snowy landscape where the forest meets the sky.

🧵 Design Notes & Techniques

For this two-page spread, I focused on balance and repetition to create a seamless winter scene:

• A large circular focal point anchors the layout and frames the tree-patterned paper beautifully.

• The penguin border adds a touch of whimsy and movement across both pages — they almost look like they’re waddling through snow!

• The bottom snow-covered hills were created by trimming patterned paper to mimic gentle drifts.

• Snowflake, glacier, and layered tree clusters give subtle texture without overpowering the photos.

• A simple six-photo grid (3.5" x 3.5" each) keeps the story front and center while maintaining harmony across the spread.

Little touches like the “All Bundled Up” and “Winter Wonders” accents bring warmth and personality — just like a favorite scarf on a cold day.

✨ A Creative Takeaway

Winter pages don’t have to be cold or stark — they can radiate comfort, quiet, and beauty. The soft blues, deep greens, and pops of black in this design remind me that winter isn’t just about snow; it’s about pausing to appreciate life’s simple, frosty joys.
