Capturing the Charm of Curaçao

Some destinations are filled with postcard-worthy views, and Curaçao is certainly one of them. From the colorful waterfront to the historic Rif Fort and the charming streets lined with unique details, this layout was designed to let those beautiful travel photos take center stage.

The soft blue color palette complements the tropical scenery without competing with the images, while the heart-patterned paper adds just enough personality to keep the pages feeling fun and vibrant.

One of my favorite additions is the QR code, which links directly to a video from our trip. Including a QR code on your scrapbook pages is a wonderful way to preserve not only what you saw, but what you experienced. Years from now, you'll be able to relive those moments with the simple scan of your phone.

Design Notes

The foundation of these pages is Bright White cardstock, which creates plenty of breathing room around the photos while keeping the overall design crisp and clean. Even with several photos on the spread, the white background prevents the layout from feeling crowded.

To help unify the pages:

• The same heart-patterned paper is repeated across both pages to create visual continuity.

• A vertical strip of blue patterned paper connects the two pages and serves as the perfect home for three smaller photos.

• Blue mats echo the vibrant skies and Caribbean water found throughout the photographs.

• Thin neutral borders help separate the patterned paper from the white background while adding subtle definition.

The embellishment clusters are intentionally limited to just a few areas. This keeps the eye moving naturally around the layout while allowing the destination itself to remain the focal point.

Tips and Techniques

Use a QR Code to Tell More of the Story

Photos capture a moment, but videos capture movement, sound, and emotion. Adding a QR code to your layout allows family and friends to watch a favorite video from your trip right from the scrapbook page. It's an easy way to combine traditional memory keeping with today's technology.

Balance Large and Small Photos

This layout mixes two larger feature photos with several smaller supporting images. The larger photos establish the story, while the smaller photos provide additional details that make the memories richer.

Repeat Colors for Unity

Notice how shades of blue appear throughout the papers, mats, embellishments, and photos. Repeating colors is one of the easiest ways to create a cohesive scrapbook layout without making it feel overly coordinated.

Cluster Embellishments

Rather than scattering embellishments across every inch of the page, group them into a few intentional clusters. This creates visual balance and keeps the focus where it belongs—on your photos.

Leave Room for Your Story

Even with multiple photos, there's still space for journaling. I left space below the photos on the right but would like to tell this story telling after posting online. You'll be grateful you've preserved the memories behind the pictures. After all, the photos show where you were—but your words tell why the moment mattered.
