Craft Notes: Frost and Moonlight

There's something magical about a winter evening spent under the lights! This layout combines beautiful teal plaid, rich black backgrounds, and touches of gold to capture those special winter memories. I love how the darker papers create a cozy nighttime feeling while allowing the photos to shine.

Design Notes

I started with a Bright White cardstock base to give the darker papers some breathing room. The three vertical panels create a clean, linear design, while the angled photo adds a little movement.

The gold photo mats tie in beautifully with the moon, evergreen tree, and starburst embellishments. I especially love how the black snowflake paper complements the nighttime photos without overwhelming them.

And don't forget the journaling! Just a few handwritten words help tell the story behind these memories.

Tips & Techniques

  • Layer your patterns. Combining plaid, snowflakes, and a subtle starry print adds interest without making the page feel too busy.

  • Repeat your colors. Touches of gold throughout the layout bring everything together.

  • Add dimension. Layered evergreen embellishments create depth and draw your eye toward the smaller photo.

  • Use white space intentionally. The white background keeps the design light and allows the photos and embellishments to stand out.
